Don't Loose Yourself in the Darkness

Have you ever lost someone special in your life? Losing a parent is the worst and can change a person completely. Hurting yourself is never the solution. Never keep anything inside of you it only makes things worst.
It’s true if we don’t speak up about our problems no one will know if we need help. There are still people today that are too afraid to look for help and their solution is to hurt themselves. Teens are the ones that cut themselves to feel better and try to ease the pain they have inside. Others do different things to forget about their problems, but the reality is that their pain is still going to be there until they find help. To heal the only way out is to break the silence and speak about your pain. Sometimes we think that not saying anything won’t make a difference because things can better without having help. I’ve been one of those persons, I just thought that nothing was going to change because I have been holding my suffer for months. At last I realized that I didn’t want to suffer anymore and went to talk to my mom. It feels good letting out what is inside you because then you will feel a big weight of you. Overall, if time goes by and theirs still suffering don’t wait another day; instead, go and start healing.
An author from a This I Believe essay agrees. According to Dani Weathers, in her essay “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace”, silence will never help our problems to heal. She talked about the outcome of her depression and stress she had when her father passed away. Hoping to ease the grief, Dani would cut herself and led her to be addicted to self-injury. Not having the family support made her feel lonelier and was even scared of who she was becoming. It was until a former boyfriend opened her eyes by telling her that it’s been four years her father died and it was time to move on. Everything changed when she took the decision to tell the world that she had depression. Now she is a new girl that is smiling and laughing instead of hurting or crying.
Life may seem worthless when we lose someone very special for us. The easiest solution we make is to hurt ourselves physically. Silence only makes things worst because we are the only ones that know our suffer. Everyone will start judging you without knowing the truth and even our own family will turn their backs on you. Before starting to look for help be sure it’s something that you really want to do.  It can be one of the best choices and can be a step to start healing.
